Proudly serving the central Kenai Peninsula and the communities of:
Central Emergency Services protects approximately 2,200 square miles, providing fire protection, emergency medical services, and fire rescue for approximately 22,000 residents of the Greater Soldotna Area of the Central Kenai Peninsula Borough in Alaska. Central Emergency Services is a combination department, consisting of both full time and on-call (part time) employees. Central Emergency Services provides 24 hour staffing at three of the six fire stations it operates. Coverage is provided by three rotating 24-hour platoons. The Department consists of administrative staff personnel; the Fire Chief, Asst. Chief, Fire Marshal, Asst. Fire Marshal, a Training/Safety officer and two Administrative Assistants. The suppression personnel consist of three Captains, nine Engineers, and nine Firefighters. All suppression personnel are EMT III ACLS or Paramedic level. There are also 30+ On Call (part time) employees, which augment the career staff in providing response to emergencies. All uniformed personnel are Alaska certified Firefighter I. Central Emergency Services is a Kenai Peninsula Borough Fire Service Area. The Borough Assembly manages the Department through a service area elected advisory board. The Insurance Services Office (ISO) grading schedule is applied to many fire departments in most states approximately every 10 years. The purpose of the grading is to aid in calendaring fire insurance rates. It reviews and correlates features of public fire protection that have a significant effect on minimizing fire damage. In essence, the lower the rating, the lower the insurance rate - assuming the fire insurance company subscribes to the system. Central Emergency Services is rated 3 inside the Soldotna city limits, 7 within five miles of fire station one, and 10 outside the five mile area. Department Contact Information | ||||||||||
