Central Emergency Services - Prepared for the worst, providing the best

Station #1 is located in Soldotna and is the largest station. Station one houses: Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Tanker 1, Brush 1, Medic 1, Medic 2, and Boat 1. Station #1 is also the administrative headquarters.

Station #2 is in the Ridgeway/Mackey Lake area and houses Engine 7, this is our training station and isn't staffed on a regular basis.

Station #3 is located in Sterling and houses Engine 3, Tanker 3, Medic 3 rescue 3 and Boat 3.

Station #4 is in the Kalifornsky Beach area and houses Engine 4, Tanker 4, Medic 4 and Brush 4.

Station #5 is the former Funny River Emergency Services fire station at mile 16.2 Funny River Road. This station houses Engine 5 and Medic 5. In the future, station #5 will be staffed with personnel for 24 hour emergency response.

Station #6 is located at Mile 110 of the Sterling Highway, across from Tustemena Elementary School, in Kasilof, Alaska. Station six houses Engine 6, Medic 6, Brush 6 and Tanker 6.

Staffing of CES stations is accomplished by three 24-hour rotating shifts. These shifts, A, B, and C, are supervised each by a Captain who is responsible for manning and emergency responses, as well as station readiness. Shift complement consists of the Captain, three Engineers, and two Firefighters. Each shift also consists of three Paramedics and three EMT III/ACLS providers for EMS responses. Each shift is responsible for responding to not only fire emergencies, but also for EMS and Rescue (which includes Dive and water related as well as wilderness search and rescue). Hazardous Materials response is limited to First Responder-Operations level.

Station Response Districts

Central Emergency Services response districts are divided into three zones. These zones, or districts, outline the appropriate apparatus response.

CES operates under a multiple station response to most emergencies, this ensures a timely response and adequate manpower for each emergency. All fire related emergencies are simultaneously broadcast over station and off-duty radio/pager for immediate recall of personnel.

Administrative personnel respond as needed for on scene assistance or station manning.
