Training the youth of today for the challenges of tomorrow Explorers are a division of the Boy Scouts of America. It is a work based program for young men and women who have completed the 8th grade and are at least 14 years of age, or 15 years of age but have not reached their 21st birthday. Explorers who are in school must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. Fire Explorer posts help youth gain in-sight into a variety of hands-on activities in fire or emergency services career fields. This program is designed to help enhance self-esteem, self-confidence and motivation of the youth, helps develop social and life skills while focusing on character and career development. It prepares youth to make ethical decisions that will help them achieve their full potential on a personal and professional level.
