Central Emergency Services
Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best

The CES Chaplain's role is to support the needs of all CES personnel and the community that CES services. The Chaplain is on-call on a twenty-four hour basis and typically responds to situations such as: a working structure fire; an injury to or death of any emergency personnel; an incident involving a victim that is a member of a department member's family; an incident where care is needed for the family of the victim while treatment is underway; the victim or the family requests the services of a chaplain or clergy; or a possible or probable death.

The Chaplain is also available to visit hospitalized department members and members of their families, participate in recruit training as requested by the training officer, help or counsel members of the department in times of stress or difficulty, attend fire department functions, conduct funeral/memorial services as needed and requested, and serve as a member of the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team.

The Chaplain's duties include the comfort and counsel of victims or their families, providing appropriate victim assistance to free operational personnel for firefighting and EMS duties, referrals to appropriate community agencies for assistance, and help to contact next of kin, family members, etc. In all cases, the Chaplain will first find a victim's church or religious preference and attempt to notify the pastor, spiritual leader or church of the victim.

Chaplain Keith Randall is the Central Emergency Services Senior Chaplain. He oversees the duties and training of the two new Chaplains, Tim Weekley and Frank Alioto. The department Chaplains can be contacted by using the email links below.
