In the early morning hours of June 20, "C" shift firefighters received a call of two greenhouses on fire behind a residence on Van Dyke, just off St. Teresa in the Longmere Lake area. On arrival, the first responder reported two 10x10 foot greenhouses fully involved with fire. On Engine 3's arrival, a 1.75 inch hand line was deployed and the fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished. There was a potential of the fire burning into nearby brush and trees, but no extension was reported. Minor damage was done to the nearby residence by the heat from the fire, but the fire was contained to the greenhouses. CES responded with Engine 3, Tanker 1, Medic 1, 904, 906 and suppression staff. The scene was cleared about an hour after arrival. |
