On Monday July 7, just after midnight, 911 received a call from the occupant of a home at 130 Green Valley St. in Soldotna, reporting smoke and fire coming from exterior eves of his residence. The first arriving unit reported a large explosion, followed by smoke and flames venting through the middle of the single story family dwelling.

Engine 1, Tanker 1, Medic 1, Rescue 1, Tanker 3, Tanker 4, Tanker 6, Engine 5, and Ladder 1 responded to the scene along with 23 personnel plus command staff.

The home's occupant and a guest suffered minor burns and bruising from flying debris in the explosion. Both were treated and released at Central Peninsula Hospital.

The single story family home sustained major fire damage, and is under investigation.
