Just before 9:00 PM, Friday May 18th, C.E.S. was called to Mile 107 of the Sterling Highway for a reported wildfire. It was soon discovered that a 4 wheel drive vehicle was on the ATV trail and had become stuck in the mud on top of a hill. The Jeep caught fire and was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on scene. C.E.S. was assisted by Alaska State Forestry and several bystanders. The fire was quickly brought under control with minimal spread into the surrounding woodlands. |
