At 3:27 PM on June 26, C.E.S. received a 911 call reporting that two men fell out of a canoe in the Kenai River in the Naptowne Rapids near Bing's Landing. One male was able to swim to shore and was uninjured. The second male did not make it back to shore. Civil Air Patrol planes and a State Forestry helicopter searched the river from the rapids at mile 39 of the river to the mouth. C.E.S. and State Parks utilized boats and poles from mile 38 3/4 down to mile 34.5 without being able to locate a victim.

C.E.S. responded with three boats, a medic unit and personnel to staff the boats and perform river based search and rescue.
