Just after 10:00 AM, Tuesday April 24, 2007, Central Emergency Services was dispatched to the Soldotna City Airport for a reported aircraft accident.

On arrival Firefighters found a Piper PA-22-135 fixed wing, single-engine airplane on it's roof. The pilot only suffered a cut elbow, and sustained the injury on exiting the airplane.

A crosswind lifted the left wing of the plane and pushed it off the runway while the pilot was trying to land the aircraft.

Central Emergency Services responded with Medic One and Rescue One, plus command and support staff.

From Pilot Steve McIntosh - On Tuesday April 24th, 2007 Steve McIntosh’s Piper Pacer flipped over during a touch-and-go landing on the west end of the runway at Soldotna Municipal Airport. McIntosh said a crosswind caught him as he made contact with the pavement. “All of a sudden (the wind) just lifted the left wing and pulled it around,” McIntosh said.

“It just hurt my pride,” McIntosh said. “God’s watched over me for a long time. Maybe He’s trying to tell me something.”
